Complete Guide to Podcast Transcription
Podcast Transcript Template: Structure, Speakers and Timestamps
A reusable template keeps transcripts consistent and reduces editing decisions. The best template is simple enough for every episode but flexible enough for interviews, solo shows and panels.
Episode header
Include the episode title, episode number when used, publication date, guest names and roles, recording language and a link to listen. Add a concise description written for this specific episode.
Keep administrative details visible but secondary to the episode's value.
Key takeaways
List three to six useful ideas in plain language. These are not substitutes for the transcript; they help readers decide where to begin.
Link a takeaway to its timestamp when the episode is long.
Transcript body
Format each turn as a speaker label followed by readable paragraphs. Add timestamps at speaker changes or topic boundaries rather than before every sentence.
Use brackets sparingly for meaningful non-speech information such as laughter, music or an inaudible phrase.
Resources and corrections
List books, tools, people and links mentioned in the episode. Add a dated correction note if the published transcript changes a factual claim.
Do not silently rewrite controversial or uncertain statements.
Reusable closing section
End with related episodes, a link to subscribe, and the next action relevant to the topic. Keep promotional copy shorter than the editorial content.
The same closing component can be reused across episodes without duplicating the main text.
